About Dr. Manoranjan Biswas

Raised amongst impoverished surroundings, the bitter taste of sheer poverty came very early in the life of Dr. Manoranjan Biswas. His father, Late Nirapada Biswas – who was a teacher and headmaster by profession – went at far off villages to teach students for free in spite of his paltry belongings and meagre means of survival. This trait of unconditional giving is what Dr. Biswas has perhaps inherited from his early childhood – silently yet certainly.

He lost his father at the age of 5 yet refused to accept the harshness of his circumstances as an impediment to his zeal to learn and persevere – which has still not died in him. As an octogenarian, he still reads daily, authors books and mentor students precisely the same way he has done to thousands of them over last five decades as a professor of Nuclear Physics.

This endowment  scholarship is his humble gesture to rekindle the same spree of hope – that was once his only companion among all the hardships he experienced – for the needy students to steer ahead with confidence and prosper in the professional world.
